I was fortunate enough to see Jose Gonzalez last weekend. It was quite the linguistic event. He was born in Sweden, after his parents moved there from Argentina in the 70s. He speaks Spanish, Swedish, and English. His Japanese Swedish-speaking girlfriend backed him up on vocals. He didn't say much in between songs. The quote of the evening was "You have a beautiful town here. We're happy to be invited to play here. It reminds.... a bit of South Park." We'll take it.
The transitions between songs and the lighting were amazing. Who else can keep a room of 500 quiet for indie folk on a classical guitar.
Not actually from the night, but one of my favorites at the concert. Accompaniment and lighting really showed this song off. Lovestain:
