how inconvenience breathes

i finally got a ribbon for the underwood #6 beauty of a typewriter my mom got me for christmas two years ago. it was made ca. 1940 and happens to be the same model that JFK had. a part of me finds it terribly romantic and inspiring to write with a relic of the past. it requires me to write deliberately--to mean what I write even in the way I must hammer the keys. it demands perspiration. the inconvenience of it seems to stir a passion inside of me that i do not know amidst the luxuries of modern technology. the irony in writing all of this here, on the world wide web, on a noiseless keyboard with a backspace key is too much to bear, i know. but you should trust me on this one.
